In pursuit of the South African government's goal to eradicate squatter camps, the ARP has identified a need for 1st-tier affordable rental accommodation for the poor who do not
qualify for a subsided house. A ground-breaking concept has been developed whereby 13 clusters of 4 double-story blocks centred around a courtyard will make 520 rooms available for rent. Shared ablution, washing-up and laundry
facilities as well as clearly demarcated and landscaped areas for children and recreation as well as taxi rank are part of the plan. Measures have been taken to ensure that durable, high-quality finishes will be installed, thereby reducing
maintenance costs. This development is situated on the Far East
Bank, near the new Florence Moposho (formally Vasco) Bridge. More... |
