From 11 to 15 May 2005, the Alexandra Renewal Project held its first ever travelling exhibition.
The ARP piloted the integrated urban renewal approach for the South African Government. While there has been extensive delivery by
the ARP, there was a general misconception about the level of investment and service delivery by the Alexandra community. In addition there was a need for the project to become more visible and to engage more directly with members of the community.
The Travelling Exhibition consisted of a large truck that opens up. A video show at the entrance to the truck screened the progress video developed in 2003. Six boards that display over 50 projects implemented by the ARP were arranged inside
the truck. Where possible before and after pictures were shown. Information on the project was provided as well as a price tag showing the amount invested. |
