The Minister in the Presidency Essop Pahad, Gauteng housing MEC, Paul Mashatile, and Johannesburg Mayor Amos Masondo launched the Alexandra Multipurpose Community Centre on 25th February 2004.

The Alex MPCC is one of the government's one-stop service centres that are being jointly rolled out throughout the country, to improve the communities' access to government information and services such as application for social grants, IDs and birth certificates.
