Gordon Primary School,  situated next to Alexandra High School, was in a bad state of repair. Alexandra High School desperately needed more land.  It was decided to demolish the old Skeen School,  situated one road down, and rebuild a brand new school primary school to house the Gordon School children. The original Gordon Primary will be demolished and incorporated, together with a section of the road which has been re-zoned, into Alex High.

September - The school is virtually completed and will open with the new school year in January 2010. These photos show the maximum use of space in a very densely populated area. Plans are being developed for additional playgrounds and sports fields.

May - The big move took place over the 14th and 15th in an atmosphere of great excitement. Mr. Tim Makhale, principle of Gordon Primary, said: "It's been a long wait, but we're delighted that it's all eventually happening and we look forward to a great learning atmosphere in the new school."
