Supporting soccer in Alexandra for benefit of player and community

The Ridout Group, in association with the Alexandra Renewal Project, CEO Communications and the Association for Certified Chartered Accountants, hosted its inaugural football tournament in aid of community upliftment on Saturday, 27 October 2007.

The newly revamped Alexandra Stadium was the venue for this event where eight up-and-coming Alexandra-based teams competed for the Champions' Trophy. The ARP provided the security personnel, catering and covered the cost of hiring the venue.

Despite the chilly weather and rain, the enthusiasm of these under-20 teams and the crowd was overwhelming. The two finalist teams were presented with a new soccer kit to wear in the final.

Sheffield, a team sponsored by Ridout, were declared the winners after a fun-filled morning. The tournament winners were awarded gold medals and a trophy, while the runners-up received silver medals.
