The changing face of Alexandra

In the past much has been written about Alexandra with its overcrowding, housing shortage and lack of infrastructure. But is that picture still accurate? Judge for yourself...

Extension 7 Housing
       

1704 families that were living in dangerous and hazardous conditions, or on land needed to develop public amenities, are being rehoused in Extension 7.

Affordable Rental Housing: "520"
   

In pursuit of government's goal to eradicate squatter camps, the ARP is building affordable rental accommodation for those living in informal settlements who do not qualify for subsided housing.

Kwabhekilanga Sports Centre
   

The Kwabhekilanga rugby grounds and new eight-track athletics stadium are to be shared by the school and the broader community.

Pan Africa development
       

A taxi rank and taxi holding facility for 1000 vehicles, public open market with 650 stall holders and 8000m² of commercial space are under development.

K206 housing project
       

K206 is the largest housing project in Alexandra to date. The land, originally earmarked for a highway, stretches from Marlboro in the north to London Road in the south.
